This is Josiah and I, thanks to a self timer and a lot of running back and forth. This is our space, our rooftop. Today we opened a time capsule we’d hid there 5 years ago. We spent time reminiscing, crying, laughing, grieving, celebrating, and dreaming. We wrote a poem on the wall, cementing our words and grounding our hearts. This is our city, 成都. The place where our memories are a montage reel that we never get tired of watching. The place where we grew, and broke, and healed, and loved. The place where OUR story began. The place that will always, whether big or small, carry an essence of home.
I always journaled growing up, and still do as much as I can. But, as sad as it is, writing has kind of taken the back burner in the last year or two of life. I’ve been tying to revive it though, and to remind myself that it’s important to record life’s processes, cycles, tensions, good + bad moments - no matter how messy it all feels. // A 2019 goal is to start sharing more of that. More words. More of the “behind the camera” + “behind the heart” blog posts. More of who I am and the little pieces that make up my life.
