Inside The Baker Building, L & M used their skills as designers to turn the simple space into an artful display for their smaller wedding day. The space doesn’t need much to feel special, the raw textures do a lot of the heavy lifting.

Their ceremony was full of personal vows, laughter, and that quiet moment right after the pronouncement where everyone collectively exhaled. As guests chatted over cocktail hour, we used the time to run down the street and catch golden hour at a local flower garden.

The rest of the evening was a mix of editorial-feeling portraits around the neighborhood, a delicious dinner, and a dance floor that never really slowed down. The Baker Building’s open layout made it easy for guests to drift between the bar, dessert table, and dancing without feeling separated.

L & M kept their details personal but unfussy, art-inspired signage, simple but intentional table decor, and a color palette that felt modern without being cold. Definitely design that can inspire your own wedding day!

Tips for Planning a Wedding at The Baker Building

Embrace the Industrial Mood

Leaning into the brick, beams, and warehouse windows will keep the space feeling cohesive. Think candlelight, sculptural florals, and design elements that complement rather than compete.

Build in Time for Neighborhood Portraits

The surrounding streets are amazing for portraits: textured walls, interesting lines, soft city light, and even a garden down the road. Plan at least 20–30 minutes to step outside.

Keep Your Timeline Flexible

One of the benefits of a venue like this is having everything in one place. You can transition from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception without moving guests, which gives you more flexibility for photos and moments together.

Intimate Portland Wedding at Tendue // Mallory & Robbie

This intimate Portland city wedding chose to embrace joy and presence, even in the midst of COVID-19 chaos and the roller coaster of plan changes! It was a BEAUTIFUL day full of so much love and laughter!

I adore these two!! We’ve been chatting about their wedding since early 2019, and it’s been an honor to both watch and walk alongside them in this journey! They have been absolute CHAMPS as they’ve rolled with the punches of 2020 and plan changes! I’m so grateful to have couples who are so gracious and still choose to experience all the joy a day holds — no matter what it looks like!

This intimate wedding was a small gathering of their close friends and a few family members — joined by a zoom party of other guests (of course)! They truly chose presence, and the whole wedding day was so fun to be a part of! I loved everything about these sweet moments.

So so so thankful that I get to witness some pretty amazing stories!

There are so many incredible locations to head to for your engagement photos - and the CITY is one of those! We explored The Pearl district in Portland, OR for Joey and Allison’s engagement session!

I love all the dynamic lines and angles the city offers for photos — every corner is a new challenge and canvas to make a good photo. There is so much creativity to be had in urban-scapes, and I’m grateful to all my couples who trust me to co-create images with them in those kind of spaces!

Cathedral Park Intimate Wedding // Amanda & Paul

AN INTIMATE FALL WEDDING ALONG THE PORTLAND SKYLINE UNDER ST. JOHN’S BRIDGE.

Amanda and Paul travelled across many states to come to Portland and have their intimate wedding under the St. Johns bridge in Cathedral Park. 

These two truly felt like friends from the very beginning. I loved getting to know them through the moments and details that were a part of their day — the game of thrones make up brushes, Frida Kahlo patterned robes, moody romantic fall colors, stories from their high school beginnings (including a prom pic, yep, pure GOLD), the vows they said to each other on this gorgeous autumn day, and the joy in the faces of their friends and family — all pieces to their story. It was nothing short of amazing to be a part of this day! 

Every moment felt effortless, they truly chose to be present in EVERY moment. Even when we arrived at the park to ANOTHER WEDDING PARTY USING THEIR CEREMONY SET UP!!! I mean, if that doesn’t trigger stress, not sure what would! But, Amanda and Paul had so much peace and grace, they chose joy over stress. And it was beautiful to watch them soak up and love every second of their beautiful wedding day! From their first look under the bridge, to an emotion-filled ceremony, to waterfront photos with the Portland skyline, to a meal celebrating their love, to getting DOWN on the dance floor — these two were so present with each part of the day.

Portland Studio, Urban Elopement

Burgers, milkshakes, and a WHOLE lotta' love! i've always been in love with all things urban - the textures, the window light, old hardwood floors, harsh shadows. there's so much room for creativity. so, heck yes, an urban wedding is a road straight to my heart! not to mention, the most beautiful portland studio! if you're looking for a good industrial space for an intimate wedding in the pdx area, you have to check it out! this day was just a whole lotta goofy, cuddling love!
