Dreamy Cannon Beach Engagement Session at Golden Hour

Some sessions feel like a long walk on the beach with friends, which is exactly what this golden hour dreamy one was. M & S knew from the start that their dog had to be part of their engagement photos, so we planned a sunny Oregon Coast evening that gave them room to play, explore, and soak up golden light together!

We met an hour or two before sunset, when the sun was still high but starting to soften. The beach gave us wide open space for running, playing fetch, and letting their pup zoom around while we warmed up with candid moments.

Once everyone (including the dog) settled in, we found pockets of light along the rocks and driftwood where M & S could slow down and just be together. They splashed around and enjoyed every beam of golden light as the sun set!

Exposed brick, big windows, vintage character, moody corners, and a dance floor that stayed full all night. The Baker Building is one of those Portland venues that feels both industrial and intimate, and L & M leaned all the way into that energy for their artsy, city-meets-gallery wedding day.

Inside The Baker Building, L & M used their skills as designers to turn the simple space into an artful display for their smaller wedding day. The space doesn’t need much to feel special, the raw textures do a lot of the heavy lifting.

Their ceremony was full of personal vows, laughter, and that quiet moment right after the pronouncement where everyone collectively exhaled. As guests chatted over cocktail hour, we used the time to run down the street and catch golden hour at a local flower garden.

The rest of the evening was a mix of editorial-feeling portraits around the neighborhood, a delicious dinner, and a dance floor that never really slowed down. The Baker Building’s open layout made it easy for guests to drift between the bar, dessert table, and dancing without feeling separated.

L & M kept their details personal but unfussy, art-inspired signage, simple but intentional table decor, and a color palette that felt modern without being cold. Definitely design that can inspire your own wedding day!

Cinematic Swim Couples Session | Inspired by Call Me By Your Name Film

Clear water, grainy light, and that slow, hazy feeling of summer evenings. I wanted this session to feel cinematic and a little nostalgic—less “posed on the shore,” more “we wandered into an indie film together.” J & M’s swim session became exactly that.

Building a Session Around a Movie Mood — you can have this too!

Rather than starting with a specific location, we started with a feeling. The movie Call Me By Your Name came up, I love the soft, dreamy pacing of that movie—sun, water, intimacy, and a little bit of melancholy in the edges. The slowness, the “let’s hang onto summer” feelings, that’s what the vibe was.

Once in the water, the session became more about small movements than big poses. Hands skimming the surface, foreheads pressed together, sparkles on the surface.

Because we had talked through the mood ahead of time, they knew what we were chasing: something slow, intimate, and layered. That gave them permission to relax, stay close, and ignore the camera. We chose a quiet swim spot where we could wade in slowly, talk between shots, and let the light shift from bright to blue. Then, it was simple: enjoy the water, snack on a picnic, soak up the sun.

The Oregon Coast is known for its moody days, but every now and then it hands you a warm, glowing sunset that feels straight out of a summer movie. M & T got one of those evenings. Their engagement session was a mix of wild wind, glowing light, warm mist, and so much laughter.

We moved through the forest out onto the beach where we wandered down to the shoreline, going in and out of the waves. This session wasn’t about perfect posing, it was about giving them space to actually experience the evening together.

Why Sunset Works So Well on the Oregon Coast

Soft, directional light

As the sun gets lower, the light becomes softer and more flattering. It also creates beautiful backlight on the waves and along the horizon.

Time for more than just the beach

Starting a little earlier means we can spend part of the session in the “upper” parts of the coast (trees, dunes, or along cliffs), then finish on the sand as the sun goes down.

Mt. Hood Intimate Wedding at The Woodlands House | Twilight Inspired

Some wedding days feel like a festival. This one felt like a campfire story in the best possible way. B & B gathered ten of their favorite humans in the Mt. Hood forest at The Woodlands House for a Twilight inspired woodsy wedding filled with string lights, fog rolling through the trees, and the coziest cabin energy.

An Intimate Mt. Hood Wedding at The Woodlands House with Just Ten Guests

Instead of a big ballroom or crowded dance floor, these two chose a tucked-away cabin in the Mt. Hood in Oregon area as their “venue.” The ceremony took place under towering evergreens as the light started to fade, with their people surrounding them. Just vows, deep breaths, and the sound of the wind through the trees.

After the ceremony, I took B & B to the base of Mt. Hood for some incredible adventure photos in the empty riverbed. Then, we went and met everyone back at the Woodlands House property for an intimate candlelit dinner in the greenhouse followed by card games.

Fog, golden grasses, sea stacks in the distance, and the kind of slow, cozy energy only a fall day on the Oregon Coast can bring. L & D knew they wanted something simple and intentional for their elopement, so we created a day that moved from the cliffs at Elk Flats to a tiny ceremony at Hug Point as the tide went out.

Starting the Day Above the Ocean at Elk Flats

We met at their Airbnb for a sweet first look before heading to Elk Flats in the afternoon, when the sky was soft and the coastal grasses were just starting to turn golden. The Marine layer made the light soft and airy as the waves rolled behind them. They soaked in the views as I photographed the moments of them in awe of the Oregon Coast rugged landscape.

We then drove north to Hug Point for their ceremony where we met up with their officiant, Carolyn from Oregon Beach Ceremonies. This spot only really opens up at low tide, so we planned their vows around the tide chart to make sure we could safely access the beach and caves.

L & D stood near the edge of the rocks with waves crashing behind them, sharing personal vows. It was short, heartfelt, and exactly what they wanted: no big production, just the sound of the ocean and a lot of happy tears.

After the ceremony we explored the waterfalls, caves, and wide stretch of sand that Hug Point is known for.
